A workweek is a period of seven consecutive days that is established by an employer for the purpose of determining the schedule of employees and their pay. A workweek is typically used to calculate overtime pay, as well as to keep track of hours worked by employees.

A workweek can start on any day of the week and can have any set of hours within it. For example, an employer may have a workweek that starts on Monday at 12:00 am and ends on Sunday at 11:59 pm. Within this workweek, employees may work eight hours a day, or 40 hours total.
